For the
third consecutive year, E Prep has received an “Effective” rating from the Ohio
Department of Education. Unlike many schools that begin with Kindergarten,
E Prep takes students starting in the sixth grade. Many of our
students attended failing schools in the area and they enter E Prep at least
2-3 years behind.
The chart below compares E Prep’s Ohio Achievement Assessment scores to the
2009/10 State Average for African American students, the State Average for Ohio
Charter schools, and the District Average for Cleveland Metropolitan Schools.
Each bar displays the percentage of students performing at or above proficiency
in the various subject areas. As in previous years, E Prep outperformed all
groups across the board!
Our results
reflect the passion, persistence, and hard work of the E Prep staff and
students throughout the year. Each year we move toward closing the academic
achievement gap. We do recognize, however, that there is still much work to be
done. The orange bars in the graph above not only represent where our students
are today, but serve as benchmarks for how far they have come, and evidence of
how far they are capable of going.
