YEARBOOK
A student
created yearbook will give
those students who have a passion for journalism, photography or even
entrepreneurship, the chance to share their passion and creativity with their classmates,
teachers, and parents.
Students manage several aspects of the yearbook,
including layout and formatting, photography, student and faculty interviews,
yearbook sales, and publicity. Many of
these skills will be useful to students in their future endeavors. Students start work on the yearbook at the
beginning of the year, and continue to work every week until the last yearbook
is sold.
Working on the yearbook is a very beneficial experience for students--allowing them continue to strengthen their organizational skills, and begin learning how
to research properly. The students and teachers love viewing the yearbook and
reflecting on the all of the hard work throughout the year. Younger students especially enjoy the advice that the
8th grade students pass along to them through the writing
samples printed in the yearbook.
ART CLASS
Every student takes one trimester of art each year. The students engage in activities from broad
range of topics, ranging from art history to architecture, from sculpture to
modern art. Students enter local and
national art contests, including contests for graphic design and environmental
protection. Students are given the
chance to connect the art to other content areas, such as the Math and Art
cross-curricular project in which students designed and created scaled plans
for their dream homes. The art class is
a perfect compliment to academic structure of E-Prep and provides the opportunity
for student self-reflection.
